In the last few days, Dubai’s low-cost carrier has announced that it will be resuming flights to Tbilisi in Georgia, Colombo in Sri Lanka and Minsk in Belarus.

The announcements come on the back of flight resumptions to Doha, Istanbul, the Maldives, Catania, Naples, and upcoming new routes to destinations including Grozny, Malta, Salzburg and Tel Aviv.

“We now operate flights to 72 destinations, more than 40 of which did not previously have direct air links to Dubai or were not served by a UAE national carrier from Dubai,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO at flydubai.

Flydubai will start operating to Colombo in Sri Lanka from 17 February and Minsk, the capital of Belarus from 20 February.

Flights to Tbilisi resumed after the Georgian government eased travel restrictions for international travel on 1 February.

“We will continue to launch flights to more destinations as restrictions ease in countries within our geographic reach,” said Jeyhun Efendi, senior VP, Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai.
