flydubai says it has ‘re-engineered the entire passenger journey’ to meet the requirements and advice of regulators and health experts as it prepares to resume regular commercial services.

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a drop in passenger confidence and many people have been put off flying for fear of catching the virus while on-board a packed aeroplane.

flydubai said it has made a number of operational changes following advice on best practice from IATA, WHO and the GCAA.

The changes include a disinfection programme across touchpoints and daily aircraft disinfection.

flydubai is also communicating to customers that its cabins are fitted with high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters, ensuring air is sterile when it enters the cabin every two to three minutes.

A statement from the airline said: “flydubai is working with its stakeholders at Dubai International (DXB) as well as the airports across its network and customers can have the highest confidence ahead of the return to service.”

“Dubai, as an established centre for international aviation has always operated to the highest international standards and the combined efforts across the industry over the last few months will allow our passengers to travel once again in a safe environment,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai.

The UAE-based carrier supported government requests with repatriation flights after all regular passenger flights were suspended at the end of March.

The carrier has enabled 23,000 passengers to return home and flydubai’s all-cargo flights were also in operation, ensuring that essential items continued to flow with goods brought to Dubai and onwards.

Between April and the beginning of June, flydubai transported 3,800 tonnes on 657 flights to 35 destinations.
