Dubai to Doha was formerly one of the busiest routes in the entire Middle East region
The Dubai-based low-cost carrier recommenced a double-daily service to Doha’s Hamad International Airport on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Flydubai revealed: “We have had a positive response to our return to the market and we look forward to the traffic building.”
It follows similar moves by Air Arabia to resume services to Doha and Etihad Airways, which will restart flights on February 15. While Qatar Airways relaunched services to the UAE from Wednesday, with flights to Dubai International Airport; flights to Abu Dhabi International Airport will return to the skies this Thursday.
There is no indication, as yet, of when Dubai-based Emirates Airline will resume activities with Doha.
More people started taking their first holiday of the year towards the end of last year than earlier in the same year 2020.
UAE budget airline flydubai was increasingly ferrying holidaymakers to exotic locations as tourism began to resume in various markets.
When borders re-opened in the summer the first travellers were those visiting friends and relatives while the carrier rebuild its leisure network and increased frequencies on routes to locations.
The carrier has been steadily increasing its operations since July and now serves 44 destinations across Africa, Europe, Central Asia, the GCC and Middle East, and the Indian Subcontinent.
