Last Weekend, the third leg of the Uganda Open Golf Championships  took enroute Fort portal’s Tooro Club where Golf was played on Saturday  April 27th, thereafter spiced with  Golf tours starting off with the historical tourist site ‘’Amabeere ga Nyina Mwiru’’  which has a rich history tracing back from 4,000 years ago.

Situated just 10 kilometres away from Fortportal town, comes this amazing cave that spills a lot about former kingdoms in Tooro. While at Amabeere ga Nyina Mwiru, one will enjoy observing water falls that come all the way from the Rwenzori Mountains.

The tales of this magnificent tourism site start from the stories of Bukuku who was by then gate keeper of the vast underground Kingdom ruled by King Isaaza historically known as the king of the underground.

Bukuku had a beautiful daughter known as ‘’Nyamata’’. The much treasure the kingdom had for their herds by then, one cow known as Rehogo onetime went missing something that persuaded all of them to hunt for the cow as the king participated in the hunt too. King Isaaza entered the hollow part of the cave hoping the cow might have entered inside, unfortunately the earthquake came, shook the ground heavily and suddenly King Isaaza had to collapse inside. After his death, Bukuku witnessed an opportunity of turning from a mere servant to a King as self-declared and later on became a King in reality hence dream came true. Fortune tellers asked him to protect his beautiful and only daughter as much as he could or else she would give birth to a successor who would in turn overthrow him, as a result, Bukuku built a taller fence to cage his daughter so that no man would access his daughter though the plan failed to work out as she fell in love with Isimbwa who was then Bukuku servant and conceived.

While she was still pregnant information reached Bukuku and he learnt that the daughter was already carrying a foetus in her womb. Bukuku reacted by sending off all servants including Isimbwa, one of the chiefs convinced him that if he made his daughter ugly, men would shun away from her as they won’t feel captivated hence he would rule the more. Bukuku reacted immediately by getting off one of the daughters eye and breast.

Great historians don’t even believe in the geography of the stalactites, all they know about stalactites is refered to as ‘’Amabeere Ga Nyina Mwiru’’ which represents the breast that was cut off from Bukuku’s daughter and thrown on top of the rock. Immediately, the breast developed underneath and then she produced a baby known as Ndahura who would later go and suck on the same breast.

Ndahura in native Tooro language literally means predicting about something and it turns out real. After the daughter gave birth, Bukuku by then now grandfather carried the baby boy known as ‘’Ndahura’’ and dumped him in the forest angrily. Later on, Bukuku’s servants picked up the boy and took good care of him hidden as he grew up. Information was later delivered to the mother that her son is still alive, she secretly started taking prizes like cows, milk among others, the boy grew up and spiritually, he turned out a King which became a situation of circumstance to have two Kings in the same jungle as the boy was also sturbbon at the same time. Ndahura turned out a pastoralist as both he and the grandfather grazed their cattle in the same jungle.

Ndahura’s stubbornness caused him to stop Bukuku’s cattle from taking water and pasture on the same land which made Bukuku angry and couldn’t tolerate that as he speared Ndahura but unfortunately the boy dodged the spear and in revenge, he speared Bukuku the grandfather to death and Ndahura became the ultimate king. According to history, Ndahura might have been the last king of the Abacweezi that lived under the cave.

Amabeere ga Nyina Mwiru is located in Bukuku Subcounty named after Bukuku the deceased King. The village is known as Nyakasura where the cave lies, Karago town council – Kabarole district, Western Uganda.

After taking a round visit of the Amabeere ga Nyina Mwiru plus surrounding waterfalls, Golfers went on a hike on the hills of Fortportal where they enjoyed beautiful sceneries as they observed Fortportal town at an Angle not forgetting mixing and blending with locals during nightlife in Fortportal town as the party at different hangouts like Glue port bar, Garden Restaurant and Pavilion Lounge never stops. Fort portal’s nightlife has one of the most adorable wee hour’s experiences that would make one make frequent visits to attest too.

On Sunday, Golfers embarked on a trip enroute Bundibugyo in western Uganda where they visited the amazing Rift valley as they made stopovers to have selfies and memorial photos of the great escarpments to have their own fairy tale.

The last destination was Semuliki national park which covers upto 194 km² with magnificent views at every angle as the most adorable feature in this park are the female hot springs that boil an egg in just ten minutes.

The park is remotely located in Bundibugyo District, Bwamba County. Semuliki was made national park in the year 1993 and is currently Uganda’s latest park establishments. Only tropical rainforests are found in the parks that also provide rains to the region.
