Vaccinations
Dogs require vaccination against distemper, hepatitis, Leptospirosos, Parvo-virus and rabies. It should have been done not less than 30 days prior to arrival at any point of entry into Uganda.
Important to note also is that Cats require vaccinations against Feline Entritis and rabies. It should have been done not less than 30 days prior to arrival at any point of entry into Uganda.

Health Certificates

You must also have in possession a health bill confirming that the pet is disease free. It should be issued by a registered veterinary surgeon or official and should be properly signed and stamped within ten days of shipment. The signatures should be of not more than 3 months back that is to say the certificate should be showing up-to-date information and records.
Also, needed is a certificate or letter from the local veterinary authorities indicating that the place of origin of the pet is free from rabies.

Transportation
Transportation regulations suggest that, while in transit, Dogs must not come into contact with other animals. To ensure this, each pet should be appropriately crated.

The Ugandan pet clearance office requires a pet microchip, proof of current rabies vaccination, and veterinary certificate for entry.  Then the veterinary certificate is attached to the rabies certificate and submitted to the USDA or CFIA for endorsement if you are transporting a dog or cat from the United States or Canada. If you are travelling from another country, the instructions will advise you accordingly.
If your pet’s microchip is not ISO 11784/11785 compliant, you can carry your own microchip scanner.

You should always keep all your pet’s vaccinations in one place with an Immunization Record that is well completed with your veterinarian. This document will display all your pet’s vaccinations on one sheet for easier customs clearance.
