KLM Royal Dutch Airlines was forced to cancel not less than twenty-three flights on Monday morning; September 2nd after their ground staff went on strike. The work stoppage that lasted between 08:00 and 10:00 (UTC +2) also disrupted flights of other SkyTeam alliance partners like Air France, Transavia and Delta Air Lines.
KLM is currently handling all incoming medium-haul traffic, but the airline decided to delay all long-haul traffic by two hours. Amsterdam Schiphol airport advised its passengers to keep an eye on current flight information by checking their airline’s website, as well as Schiphol‘s website and app.
Dutch unions are seeking a pay rise for the 15,000 ground staff currently working for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
