The two reality television programmes, Take Me Back, which debuted on January 8th, and KanSeeMe, which premiered on Sunday January 15th, both focus on the life and times of Anne Kansiime, a successful middle-aged comedian and entertainer dealing with the recent deaths of both her parents as well as the birth of her first child following her engagement to Skylanta, a guitarist and back up artiste.

Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR and Communications Manager at MultiChoice Uganda, commented on the event by saying that the two series have the creative and visual foundation to provide fans with fantastic content.

In line with our hyper-local strategy, he continued, “We want to produce world-class entertainment developed by Africans for Africa that is relatable, based on sociological and cultural intricacies that bind us together and give us an identity.”

According to Jamugisa, “We continue to invest in bringing programming that provides value to our viewers, enhancing their lives with stories that relate with their day-to-day lives, through new and refreshing content, and that is family-friendly.”

Collins Take Me Back’s host, Bareija Magezi (aka Emeka), also known as the Romantic Mukiga, claimed that the show was motivated by the demand for a reality programme centred on healing strained relationships. “We live in a fractured society that needs to be healed, and through Take Me Back, those who have been injured in the past can find solace with their lovers, friends, and family. I applaud MultiChoice for the platform to broadcast this and highlight what’s possible for people seeking solace.” Bareija made note.

The main character of KanSeeMe, Anne Kansiime, expressed excitement about the chance to share her life with viewers in her words. “With support from my family, we started on the journey to open up ourselves, our lives, the ups and downs, hurts, and joys we experience, and it has been quite a tough yet very fulfilling journey to see what the show has turned out to be in the episodes we have shot so far,” the author said. “Culture and society have for so long driven us by the notion to keep our lives secret for different reasons.”

She continued, “I want to thank MultiChoice Uganda for offering me the opportunity to bravely tell my experience through Pearl Magic Prime.

According to the local content manager at MultiChoice Uganda, Brian Mulondo, the programmes are a part of the company’s larger plan to communicate the African story.

Anne and Emeka are undoubtedly brilliant creators, Mulondo said, “We are happy to partner with them to offer innovative and thrilling content to viewers’ screens this year, in addition to others we have commissioned in the prior few years.”

With the debut of fresh and intriguing programmes like Urban Life, Juniors Drama Club, and Wakaliwood in the past month, MutiChoice Uganda has shown significant commitment in the Ugandan film sector. The business is making these efforts through Pearl Magic Prime in an effort to improve and broaden the options it provides to clients while promoting the development of the Ugandan film industry.
