Nsenene and Wine Festival targets to promote food tourism

Nsenene and wine, first ever food tourism event in the calibre. So many recipes to enjoy during the festival. Lots of other activities on the same day.

Foodists and wine diners out there, its time to get your appetites ready for the first ever Nsenene and Wine Festival that will be taking place on Sunday 26th May at Aer Lounge, near British High Commission in Kololo as gates will be open starting 11am till mid-night for only Shs 30,000.




‘’Nsenene’’  is a Luganda word  for the adored  local insects, their English botanical name is – Ruspolia differens aka katydids, one of the most enjoyed local seasonal  delicacies  popularly consumed  between the months of April, May, November and December yearly.

Treads Africa Events, the organisers for this year’s first ever  Nsenene festival – food tourism  event have come up with a variety of recipes among which include; Nsenene Burger, Samosa Nsenene, Pancake Nsenene, Beef Nsenene and Chicken Nsenene which will be exclusively unveiled for the ardent consumers to enjoy accompanied  with wine.

Peter Ssebulime, Organiser of this years’ festival says, the idea is to promote food tourism and this festival thus presents a unique opportunity for Uganda’s Nsenene vendors, consumers, corporate companies and tourism institutions to celebrate the country’s rich and original snack Nsenene and Wine culture.

He further adds that, there will be a chain of activities during the event among which include; cooking competitions, games, live video mixing, live band, celebrity cookouts and artists performance.

The event also looks forward to hosting a number of tourists and food fanatics from across the globe.
