02.  Phony Tour Operator arrested for defrauding clients. With efforts turned towards weeding out fabricated tour operators from the Tourism trade, Uganda Tourism Police in conjunction with sister agencies has detained a one Nathan Tindyebwa, Director of Humura Trips Company Ltd accused of swindling several tourists a total of about $7000, the suspect was earlier engaged to take visitors of Gorilla tracking and a safari to the Murchison Falls National Park but rather surprisingly failed to meet accommodation and transportation costs after the visitors had already checked-in the country. 03.  Locals excited after UWA commences erection of 21km long electric fence.  Residents living in Rubirizi and the neighboring district of Kasese have been out joyed after the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) commenced works to erect an electric wire fence around parts of the Park.




This comes at a time where residents had frequently been in battles with trespassing wild animals from the park which destroyed gardens and at times attacked the population. As a result of increasing populations of communities living near or/and around national parks, communities have continued to grow food crops close to the gazzated areas which have occasionally been destroyed by the wildlife especially primates and elephants. 04.  Uganda alert on Traveler Importation of Novel Coronavirus COVID -19 at Entry Points. The Uganda Ministry of Health has tightened up in the fight against the Importation of Novel Coronavirus COVID – 19 into the Country as the virus continues to spread and claim many lives globally.

Its should be remembered that, the People’s Republic Of China alerted the World Health Organisation (WHO) about an outbreak of a Pneumonia  causing illness which was later identified to be Novel Coronavirus COVID -19 which is spreading at fast speed  across other parts of the World. 05.  Ethiopia’s interim report blames Boeing for the crash of the Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau of the Ethiopian Ministry of Transport released its interim Investigation report on Tuesday March 10th,  just one day before the anniversary of the fatal accident which claimed all of the 157 people on board the aircraft.

The report concludes that the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX in March 2019 was caused essentially by a faulty design of the aircraft. It was mainly the malfunction of the MCAS anti-stall system, specially designed to compensate for the heavier engines of the 737 MAX, which was implicated in the disaster, as well as in the Lion Air crash of October 2018. 06.  Emirates Airline out to Reinstate Customer Confidence in Air Travel. Emirates Airlines is attempting to wipe the fears of passengers worried about contracting Covid-19 while on-board planes in a new public relations campaign aimed at reinstating customer confidence in air travel.

In a message put out to passengers, Emirates said it is cleaning nearly 250 aircraft every day with each of its A380s being treated by a team of 36 specialist cleaners. Read more https://bit.ly/33mQUnq

07.  Qatar Airways Cargo voted International Cargo Airline of the Year. Qatar Airways Cargo was presented with the “International Cargo Airline of the Year” award at the STAT Times grand gala awards event held at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai on 26 February 2020. 08.  Emirates Airlines introduces generous waiver policy enabling customers to book with peace of mind. Emirates Airline is providing customers more flexibility, choice and value through its newly introduced waiver policy for all booked tickets issued on or from Saturday, 7 March until 31 March 2020, allowing customers across its network the choice of changing their travel dates without change and reissuance fees.

The move provides the Airlines’ customers with peace of mind should they decide to change their travel plans due to the evolving COVID-19 situation. Customers can change their booking to any date for travel within an 11 month date range in the same booking class without change penalties. Difference in fare, if applicable applies. 09.  Boeing Faces $20m FAA Fine Over 737 Allegations. Boeing’s culture and processes are once again under the spotlight after regulators accused the plane maker of installing equipment on hundreds of 737 planes before being approved.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed fining Boeing for nearly $20 million for allegedly installing Rockwell Collins Head-up Guidance Systems on 791 jets, including 737 Max’s and NG’s, prior to being approved. Read more https://bit.ly/3aKnsds

10.  Uganda Tourism Board meets French Ambassador to Uganda ahead of Friendship Week. On Friday, the Uganda Tourism Board paid courtesy visit to the French Ambassador to Uganda and his team over lunch at his residence in Nakasero. The Board’s marketing manager Claire Mugabi discussed with the Ambassador UTB’s involvement in the forthcoming Uganda – France Friendship Week set to run for 6 days with 6 themes and will feature a much-anticipated football game between African legends playing with Uganda Cranes Legends.
