The weekend beginning Friday 06th to Sunday 08th  March  2020  will be quite busy on Uganda’s social scene with a number of events lined up for the party goers right from music events to sports events.

As always at Guide2Uganda we bring you the eye catching top events so that you can make up your pick. Here is what’s happening on the Events Calendar this Weekend.




01.  Cindy Live in ‘’Boom Party’’ Concert

This Saturday, Cindy Sanyu will be performing live in her concert dubbed the ‘’Boom Party’’ concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Gates open by 6pm as entrance is Shs20K Ordinary and Shs50K VIP while a Table Shs1M.

 

02.  Lights Camera Action Old Skool at the Gardens Najjera

This Saturday, Almost Famous Entertainment will be hosting the ultimate Old Skool party with special attention to the old school way of life, fashion and genres of music. Get to celebrate old skool music, fashion and food from the 80s, 90s, and Early 00s.

Gates open at 2pm till dawn. Entrance is free.

 

03.  Ladies Affair 4th Edition at Design Hub

Get to experience the biggest Female DJ event in Uganda celebrating International Women’s Day at Design Hub this Saturday starting 6pm. The Event is hosted by DJ MaryJo Featuring DJ Xyzl, DJ Lolah, Sal the Deejay, DJ Ruby, DJ Sheila, and DJ Amor.

Entrance is Shs20k and Shs500k (Table of 8 with F&B)

 

04.   The Mara Mara Peace Festival at the Gardens Najjera

The Mara Mara Festival is set to happen this Saturday at the Gardens, Najjera.

The festival is a platform for the youth to advocate for cross-border peace, environmental protection for peace preservation, economic opportunity for youth and creating a conducive environment for Africa’s development, and the growing problem of mental health.

The Festival will include lots of  activities to promote the social Pan-Africanism necessary for peace and harmony to prevail such as; Self-defence, African youth roundtable on Silencing The Guns, Tour in the African Peace Village, Yoga, Virtual percussion, Kwepena, Spoken Word, Poetry, Chess, Body-painting, Live music and BBQ.

 

05.  Naava Grey Live at Nexus Lounge

This Thursday, Songbird Nava Grey will be performing live on the ‘’Thirsty Thursday Amplified Edition’’ at Nexus Lounge, Najjera.

DJ Kasbaby, DJ Hot and MC Zack will be playing you its all night.

 

06.  Media Literacy Conference at Protea Hotel Kampala

The Media Literacy conference is on and happening this Thursday at Protea by Marriot Kampala from 8am till 5pm. The Conference aims to bring together key stakeholders to explore and address the importance of MIL in relation to other media approaches in developing democracies like Uganda and other countries in the region.

 

07.   Sickle Cell Marathon at Jinja Rugby Grounds

This Sunday, Jinja will be hosting the Sickle Cell Marathon so as to raise awareness about the illness in Uganda, available will be other services like; Blood Donation, Sickle Cell screening, etc

The Marathon kicks off at 7am.

 

08.  Launch Business Lab Uganda at Design Hub

This Friday, BLU will be launching a business lab in Uganda at Design hub, Kampala as all agribusiness partners and stakeholders to be present at the official launch.

BLU is an accelerator for existing Ugandan agribusinesses in which committed buyers and investors are involved from the start.

Two cohorts of selected candidates will receive a support package which is highly practical and focuses on preparing the candidates for a successful business deal in a sustainable manner. With the ultimate goal to grow the enterprises and connect them to regional and/or Dutch buyers and investors.

The first cohort focuses on the dried fruit and jackfruit value chain. Producers active in this sector are especially encouraged to participate in this event.

BLU is powered by The Netherlands Embassy hosted by Design Hub Kampala and partners with proven initiatives.

 

09.  Samba Obwavu Festival Launch

The Uganda Network for Community Empowerment will be hosting the Samba Obwavu Festival at Kawanda Grounds this Saturday starting 12pm in Wakiso district to support various local groups as a social responsibility through the entrepreneurial self-help community development fund project.

 

10.   Arise Woman Comedy Jam at National Theatre

Ugandan Comedienne Agnes Akite will be hosting the Arise Woman Comedy Jam this Friday at the Uganda National Cultural Centre starting 6pm. Expect lots of female comedians as they will be cracking jokes entire evening.

Entrance is Shs30K Ordinary and Shs50K VIP.
