Top 10 Events happening in Uganda this Weekend

The weekend beginning Friday 22nd  to Sunday 24th  February 2019 will be quite busy on Uganda’s social scene with a number of events lined up for the party goers right from music events to sports events.

As always at Guide2Uganda we shall do our best to summarize for you all the events so that you can make up your pick. Here is what’s happening on the Events Calender this Weekend.

 

01.  Bell Jamz-Roast and Rhyme Reggae Ragga Edition

The eighth edition of Roast and Rhyme is set to take place this Sunday 24th February at Jahazi Pier in Munyonyo. The event, themed ‘Bell Jamz-Roast and Rhyme Reggae Ragga Edition will bring together music, beer, and meat in a fun packed picnic.

The event will also feature a comfortable and convenient environment bringing people together to bond over great live Ugandan Reggae music and meat roasting with beer as the perfect accompaniment.

The organizers are all set and gates to the venue are expected to open by 11AM.

Tickets cost UGX 50k and being sold at Positive Emotions Garden City, Soothing Spa Acacia Mall, Jahazi Pier Munyonyo and Funz Videoz outlets in Kabalagala, Kisementi and Bugolobi.

 

02.   Why do people pray?

Humanist International and the Humanist Empowerment of Livelihoods in Uganda will be hosting the first Café Humaniste of 2019 at TAKS Art Centre, Gulu  this Saturday 23rd February 2019 under the theme ‘’Why do people pray rationality Vs faith’’

Guest speakers will be; Tiharihondijo Mwine Bejuura (Editor of Orumuri Newspaper), Nyeko Langwen Peter (Politician, LC4 councillor), Payira Bonnie (HELU President) and Samuel Omiyo, (HELU Secretary Publicity).

Event begins at 5PM

 

03.  Club Amnesia Campus Night featuring  Maro and John Blaq

 This Thursday, RnB Kyabazinga Maro and John Blaq will be premiering their music videos ‘’Obubadi’’ and ‘’Anjagala’’.

You’ll get to experience the best Thursday campus night at Club amnesia as all Galaxy Fm deejays will be mixing great hits all night.

Campusers with valid IDs enter for free and Club beer will go for UGX3, 500

Showtime is 8PM

 

04.  EDM FT the CEE at the five horsemen, Gaba Road

This Saturday, the five horsemen, located on Gaba Road will be hosting an Electronic Dance Music night with CEE at their rooftop.

Get to dance to the best EDM vibes as he make you drop adrenaline whole night while grabbing some cool drinks.

Entrance is UGX10K at the door and Showtime is 10PM.

 

05.  Kalabash ft. Youth & Monrhea

Martin Glover AKA Youth – Producer, bass player and DJ since the 1970s on the punk, dub, ambient and techno scenes

To unveil this year’s Kalabash at The Square, will be Producer, bass player and DJ since the 1970s on the punk, dub, ambient and techno scenes, Youth aka Martin Glover, who is visiting Uganda for the first time.

Youth aka Martin Glover founded punk band Killing Joke (1978), ambient house collective The Orb (1988) and psychedelic pop band The Fireman (1993, with Sir Paul Macartney) He set up the first ever psy-trance label Dragonfly Records and electronica label Wau Mr. Modo.

His set will be the first of its kind in Uganda, blending his original productions across every genre of dance music under the sun.

On this same evening, Monrhea from Athi River in Kenya will also feature as she drops her latest studio productions alongside deep and dirty E&B, hip hop and bass music.

Residents Fya LeBoof, Faizal Da Mostrixx and SkaFace will be dropping afro-house, electro and bass music from dawn to dusk at the Square.

Showtime is 8PM

 

 06.  Bam Roots Dub Reggae night at The Lazy Pony, Gaba Road

This Saturday, get to experience amazing Raggae vibes at the Lazy Pony as you dance yourself to higher spheres while enjoying roots, raggae, and dub.

Catch Music by Ras Brown and DJ LPe starting 6PM.

Entrance is Free.

 

07.  A night in Jamaica at DNA Lounge

This Thursday, DNA Lounge will be hosting a Raggae night dubbed ‘’A night in Jamaica’’. Expect to groove to the best all time raggae vibes from the different raggae piece creators.

The night is organised by Uganda’s dancehall artiste Peter Miles featuring Wasswa the Saxophonist as Deejays; Ras Brown, DJ King, DJ Blondie, and DJ Trixxy will be mixing you raggae music whole night.

Also available will be  special Caribbean cocktails.

Showtime is 7PM

 

08.  Wildlife Conservation Quiz 2019 happening at Makerere University

Uganda wildlife authority brings you the conservation quiz that will be taking place at Makerere University this Friday 22nd February starting 8:30AM as they prepare for the biggest celebration of world wildlife day in March.

All activities are under the theme “Harmonious living between wildlife and people”.

 

09. Uganda Wildlife Marathon 2019

Uganda Wildlife Marathon will be happening this Sunday 24th February at the Uganda Museum.

Proceeds from the run are geared towards supporting children of fallen rangers so that they can access education. The run will begin at exactly 7AM.

 

10.  Sales Warriors Convention 2019 happening at International University of East Africa

Nataliey Bitature, one of the key note speakers at the upcoming convention.

Starting 21st – 22nd February, the International University of East Africa will be hosting a convention dubbed ‘’Sales Warriors Convention 2019’’.
