01. Top 5 threats to the existence of mountain gorillas – Classified by the International Union for the conservation of Nature as endangered, mountain gorillas are a rare species that only inhabit, apart from ones in captivity, the southwestern part of Uganda with a shared population in Rwanda and DRC. 02. Uganda Wildlife Authority has permitted opening of all national parks for tourism – It’s great news again for Ugandan tourism industry! The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has announced the opening of all National Parks and Protected areas including Apes and Primate National Parks Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Mt.Mgahinga Gorilla, and Kibale National Parks which had remained closed for tourism regardless of the other savannah parks having opened for domestic tourism earlier in July. 03. African Union- supported App sort to enhance border re-openings – Two major African public bodies are promoting a new digital platform that is sort of to connect the continent’s Covid-19 testing centers and enhance reopening of travel across the region. The two bodies; African Union and the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are encouraging member states to integrate the mobile-based PanaBIOS platform that would allow results from facilities across the continent to be centralized. New plan seeks to protect more endangered Pangolins – Being one of the endangered animals as categorized by the International Union for the conservation of Nature, Pangolins continue to face a huge poaching threat that the hard scale covered animals are feared to reach extinction in the next few centuries if less effort is undertaken to curb the vice. 05. Emirates Airlines returns US$ 1.4 billion to customers in refunds – Emirates reveals that is has returned over AED 5 billion (US$ 1.4 billion) in COVID-19 related travel refunds to date, making strong and steady progress on its commitment to customers to complete pending refunds. More than 1.4 million refunds requests have been completed since March, representing 90% of the airline’s backlog. 06. Flydubai Now Offering Passengers Discounted PCR Tests – UAE low-cost airline flydubai is offering passengers Covid-19 testing at a special rate of AED 180 per test. The offer is available for flydubai passengers travelling from Dubai with testing services available at 28 Aster hospitals and clinics across Dubai and the Northern Emirates. 07. Boeing Experiences Another Issue with The 787 – Boeing’s problems with its 787 Dreamliners continue. This time, the horizontal stabilizer in the Dreamliner’s tail is raising concerns. There may be wider than allowable gaps between components in the stabilizer. Boeing’s engineers discovered the problem after an internal audit earlier this year. 08. UWA clarifies on Gorilla Permits acquisition – UWA notes high demand for gorilla permits in the recent 3 months. Sometimes tourists travel to Bwindi without gorilla permits confirmation then incur pressure on the authority.

09. Civil Aviation Authority receives Covid-19 Safety Kits from UN and IOM – While all preparations to have Entebbe International Airport reopened after Cabinet seating earlier last week led by Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda and the Covid-19 National Taskforce on restarting International air travel at the Airport, reopen of border entry points among other sectors of the economy still on lockdown and proposal submitted for approval. 10. Uganda to celebrate World Tourism Day in the new city of Fort Portal – The Ministry of Tourism, wildlife and antiquities is set to celebrate the forth coming World Tourism Day in the newly created city of Fort Portal with strings of events already being undertaken so as to make the celebrations a success. The celebrations which will run under the theme; Tourism and Community Development, and are sort to be attended by a few numbers due to the Corona related issues while ensuring the ministry of health set Standard operating Procedures, one of the bottle necks that will affect the full-scale celebration especially with the community members’ attendance.
