01. Behind the Aircraft Making: Uganda Airlines’ stunning rare Airbus A330-800neo rolls out of the Paint shop, photos leave many travelers in awe – Last week on Friday, the World was left in the state of astonishment after a glimpse of Uganda Airlines’ A330-800neos complete with livery coming out of the Airbus Paint shop.  

However, Uganda Airlines maintains, the aircraft is on schedule for delivery in December this year. Meanwhile, Uganda had just reopened for international flights as of 1st October, and the flagship national carrier hopes to be flying to Johannesburg within the next few weeks.

One of Uganda Airlines’ two A330neos has rolled out of the paintshop. The rare A330-800 widebody plane looks stunning in the East African flag-carrier’s livery. 05. Flying for a cause: Qatar Airways Flies Special Breast Cancer Awareness Flight – Qatar Airways on Saturday flew a flight to and from Hamad International Airport with an all-woman crew on board. The special flight was conducted as part of the flag carrier of Qatar’s efforts during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The airline’s aircraft notably drew a ribbon in the sky during its path. The World Health Organization estimates that approximately 625,000 die each year from breast cancer. Altogether, it accounts for 15% of all female cancer deaths. British Airways fresh CEO calls for pre-flight testing, transatlantic travel corridors – Sean Doyle is focusing on re-establishing British Airways lucrative transatlantic routes, which have been obliterated by the Covid-19 outbreak. British Airways’ new CEO has used his first public speech to call for the introduction of pre-departure tests and quarantine-free transatlantic travel corridors to aid the aviation industry’s recovery. Sean Doyle, who replaced Alex Cruz last week in a management reshuffle at IAG, said during a keynote at the Airlines 2050 conference that the best way to reassure people is to introduce a reliable and affordable test before flying. 07. Ethiopian Airlines to choke on a 5 Week Chinese flights suspension after 15 passengers test positive for COVID-19 – Starting October 26th, Ethiopian Airlines must suspend its operations to Shanghai for a full five weeks period. Fifteen passengers on one of the carrier’s flights tested positive for COVID-19, which violates China’s “circuit breaker” regulation. Most of the infected people seem to have had their pre-departure tests done at the same facility.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has hit Ethiopian Airlines with a five-week suspension of operations. The East African carrier is banned from flying its route from Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport to Shanghai’s Pudong for five weeks beginning October 26th. Read more https://bit.ly/3ocDS61

08. Shifting Gears in the fight against Coronavirus: Heathrow Airport starts pre-departure Covid-19 Test Program – Heathrow Airport has launched a pre-departure rapid testing program for COVID-19. The tests will be available for passengers flying to Hong Kong and Italy from Terminals 2 and 5. The cost of the test is currently borne by passengers, with tests needing to be prebooked. Around the world, a patchwork of differing entry requirements exists at each border. While some countries require everybody to quarantine, others are more selective in their approach, perhaps even allowing passengers to bypass quarantine with a negative COVID-19 test. 09. Emirates Airline expands reach in Southern Africa via interline agreement with Airlink – Emirates and Airlink have announced an interline agreement, widening Emirates’ reach into Southern Africa as countries begin opening their borders for travelers. Emirates’ agreement with Airlink will provide its customers enhanced connectivity via its gateways Johannesburg and Cape Town to more than 25 domestic destinations in South Africa and more than 20 regional destinations in Southern Africa. 10. Etihad Airways to disband First Class Chefs from flights – Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has said that it plans to eliminate its inflight first class chefs as well as food and beverage managers in the coming weeks. The decision on Sunday was due to the coronavirus crisis. Etihad has said it has been forced to evolve and operate in the most efficient way, which has led to the streamlining of inflight crew roles. An inflight chef’s job on Etihad Airways was to help first-class customers personalize the airline’s premium food offerings by guiding them through the menu. Meanwhile, food and beverage managers act as onboard sommeliers and stand out from the rest of the cabin crew due to their white jackets. Read more https://bit.ly/37tlCiI
