01. Dubai Airshow organisers reaffirm market that Event is on come 2021
The 17th edition of the Dubai Airshow will return on 14-18 November 2021, organisers confirm.
The organisers of the Dubai Airshow have confirmed that the event is taking place as planned in November 2021 despite competitor airshows around the world cancelling and postponing their events next year.
The 17th edition of the Dubai Airshow will return on 14-18 November 2021, making it the “only airshow of its kind to take place in a live format”, according to its organisers, Tarsus F&E Middle East.
02. Qatar Airlines – Live up to your promises or stop the lies- says Customer
One of the side effects of the Covid – 19 pandemic is travel uncertainty. So a promise like this is both comforting and reassuring to any nervous traveler, and even more so to a traveler on a budget who is nervous about committing precious savings to paying for a flight during these unpredictable times.
Qatar Airline goes on to promise: “With our extended and guaranteed flexibility on bookings until 31 December 2020, you can feel confident to plan your next trip to any of our remarkable destinations around the world. Book today, change if you need and travel when you are ready”.
But this promise has remained a dream- at least for one recent traveler!
Ruth Bahika Kendegye – Founder of Grace Villa, a home for vulnerable girls based in, Kabale, Kigezi South Western Uganda booked for travel with Qatar Airways and was scheduled for a 9:25pm long haul flight on Monday October 26th 2020 from Dulles International Airport, Washington DC to Entebbe International Airport in Uganda with a connection via Hamad International Airport in Doha. But all efforts to be a part of this long haul flight were futile.
03. Emirates bags Award for ‘Airline of the Year’ at Aviation Business Awards
Emirates has taken home Airline of the Year 2020 at the Aviation Business Awards. The airline was recognised for its resilience, agility and innovation in the face of the global pandemic, often leading the industry in its initiatives to boost traveller confidence and comfort. Emirates was also hailed for its customer-centric approach, optimising the utilisation of its fleet to generate revenue, striking a balance between business imperatives with new health and safety protocols, while maintaining its industry-leading passenger experience.
04. Saudi Arabia closes all her boarders following discovery of a new strain of Corona Virus
Effective December 20th, the Saudi government closed all her air, land and sea boarders to passenger flights as a counter response following discovery of a new Corona virus strain in the United Kingdom earlier last week.
According to the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the ban will last for a week as concerned agencies monitor the trend within the new strain citing that this period could further be extended for another week incase the bad gets to worse.
A new directive by the Saudi government requires all travelers who arrived in the country from European countries where the new strain has taken toll to self-isolate from their respective homes for two weeks. Travelers who could have been in European countries in the past three months will also be required to take a mandatory Covid-19 test.

05. EgyptAir to help unveil new Ghanaian flag carrier
Last week the Ghanaian government concluded negotiations with EgyptAir for a joint venture that will establish a new national airline in Ghana. A previous attempt at creating a partnership with Ethiopian Airlines fell through over issues such as routes and funding. The only thing remaining for the new deal is for it to be approved by Ghana’s Parliament.
On Tuesday, December 15th, the online news outlet GhanaWeb reported that Ghana’s Minister for Aviation, Joseph Kofi Adda, had announced that an agreement had been reached with EgyptAir to help launch a new Ghanaian flag-carrier.

08. IATA renews call on Governments to consider aviation workers as essential for vaccination
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) renewed its call on governments to ensure that employees in the aviation sector are considered as essential workers during the impending COVID-19 vaccine campaign, once health care workers and vulnerable groups have been protected.
IATA’s 76th Annual General Meeting (AGM) had unanimously adopted a resolution to this effect.
Brussels Airlines looks ahead to next summer season, with the launch of its summer holiday offer. The airline welcomes traditional holiday favourites as well as a new destination: Bari in Puglia, Italy.
After a difficult 2020, Brussels Airlines is looking cautiously ahead to the summer of 2021.
Traditionally, December and January are the months in which Belgians start planning their summer vacations, that’s why the airline now launches its leisure offer for the summer season.

10. Uganda Airlines opens up skies to Kinshasha, DR Congo with tri-weekly flights
Just after almost a year and a half since revival of Uganda’s National Carrier with the four Aircraft CRJ900 Bombardier series offering regional flights to seven regional domestic routes of; Nairobi, Bujumbura, Juba, Kilimanjaro, Mogadishu, Dar es Salaam and Mombasa from the Airlines official hub Entebbe International Airport till date
On December 10th 2020, Uganda Airlines took to its official Twitter Account and announced that the Airline has added Kinshasha as its 8th regional destination with three scheduled commercial passenger flights per week thereby making business, travel easy and bringing access and convenience for Ugandan travelers to the Democratic Republic of Congo for whether business or catching with family vice versa.
