Uganda Airlines opens up skies to Kinshasha, DR Congo with tri-weekly flights

Just after almost a year and a half since revival of Uganda’s National Carrier with the four Aircraft CRJ900 Bombardier series offering regional flights to seven regional domestic routes of; Nairobi, Bujumbura, Juba, Kilimanjaro, Mogadishu, Dar es Salaam and Mombasa from the Airlines official hub Entebbe International Airport till date

On December 10th 2020, Uganda Airlines took to its official Twitter Account and announced that the Airline has added Kinshasha as its 8th regional destination with three scheduled commercial passenger flights per week thereby making business, travel easy and bringing access and convenience for Ugandan travelers to the Democratic Republic of Congo for whether business or catching with family vice versa.

Early this year in February, Uganda Airlines hinted on expansion plans and among them included the start of scheduled commercial passenger flight operations to the flying zone of Kinshasha in the Democratic Republic of Congo thereby by offering seemingly convenience and access for travelers to the route. The announcement about the due commencement of commercial flights to Kinshasa came following a short notice by the airline officials through one of their social media platforms. “Hello DR Congo! Bonjour DR Congo! Kinshasa coming soon….Très bientôt….Eza koya….Hivi Karibuni,” the statement read.

Expectations are high that the latest route will help to boost trade and tourism between Uganda and the DR Congo.

The Board Chairman, Uganda Airlines, Hon. Ahabwe Godfrey Pereza in his speech said, “We are committed to seeing Uganda Airlines excel in its operations and in the provision of services which fall within the expected international standards.”

“Our growth and success as an airline facilitate the growth and success of our country, through the promotion of our tourism industry and building relationships between Uganda and other countries. We, as the board, commit our efforts to ensuring that our cranes stay in the sky,” he added.

With the expected delivery of the A330neo Airbus soon, the Airline plans to put on schedule long-haul flights within Africa and the World thereby connecting Uganda to destinations such as Johannesburg – South Africa, Heathrow -London, China, Dubai among several others so as to facilitate the flow of trade and tourism.

The Entebbe to Kinshasha – DR Congo routes’ maiden flight will take place this week on Friday December 18th 2020 and flights will be available every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday of the week.
