05. European Union travel postponed until June 15: According to EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, there is a likelihood that the European Union will keep its external borders closed until this date. She stated that after June 15, lifting of the travel restrictions should be implemented in a “phased and coordinated” mode in order to prevent a second wave of the pandemic that could even seem more deadly. Uganda airlines’ operations still on-going irrespective of lock down –management: As a measure to curb down the deadly Corona Virus disease in Uganda, the government on March 25th 2020 halted both international and domestic travel. However, according to the Uganda Airlines Chief Executive Officer, Cornwell Muleya, the airlines are partaking on numerous startup operations amidst the countrywide lockdown and global travel restrictions. 07. No repatriation, Gov’t to reach out and negotiate Visa extensions for Ugandans stuck abroad: Following the ban on passenger flights by most countries in March as a measure to curb down the Covid-19, a number of Ugandans were trapped and stuck in countries away from home. Earlier on, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has restated that government does not intend to evacuate Ugandans stuck abroad following the coronavirus pandemic lock down however pledge to negotiate their Visa extensions. Ape enthusiasts organise to bar primates from Covid-19: The ape form of the receptor that the new coronavirus uses to enter cells (the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2, or ACE2, receptor) is identical to the human one, so it’s likely apes can be infected, according to an 11 April preprint on bioRxiv.
