Following a viral video of a man selling Uganda’s seasonal and local delicacy “Nsenene” on board in a Uganda airlines aircraft, the Airline has come forward and issued its intend to add the dish to its on board menu.
The incidence happened on a Uganda Airlines flight number 446 to Dubai on 26th November 2021 at a time when passengers were boarding the aircraft. In the video, a local trader is seen receiving payments from passengers as they order and buy Nsenene in polythene bags.
The airlines says they wont take this happening lightly as it undermines the spirit of the national carrier.
However, on the lighter note, the incident opened up a new point of view from the airline management who promised to add the local delicacy (Nsenene) to their on board menu given the high demand from passengers.
“We have picked lessons from the incident. Some of our customers enjoy Nsenene. We understand that they were not in plenty this season hence the excitement. We are concidering adding Nsenene, a Ugandan delicacy, to our menu for regional and international frights on request. This addition of Nsenene will bring the Ugandan culture to the world.”
Nsenene- local name for grasshoppers, is a Ugandan local delicacy enjoyed by the Ugandan community especially in the month of November when these insects are in plenty. Many Ugandan entrepreneurs have gone ahead to start up business ventures into grasshopper trade during times of availability.
