In a recent travel journal New York Times, Authors Marcus Westberg and Vivian Song ranked Uganda at Number 30, among the World’s finest tourism destinations to pay a visit in this year.
Not only being a landlocked country in east-central Africa enclosed in the gloom of Tanzania and Kenya, the country boasts of its rich wildlife endangered species and is more accessible by tourists from across the world.
The revival of the national Airlines adds more spice and convenience to the tourism sector in the Pearl Of Africa.
Uganda stands as one of the world’s primate capitals, with 15 species (four of which are endangered).
The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park also a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated in South Western Uganda is popular for hosting the mountain gorillas.
The park’s gorilla-trekking safaris limit contact to eight visitors per gorilla group per day, and proceeds from their trekking permits go toward conservation efforts and protecting the animals from poachers. The dense forest mountain park, which ranges in elevation between 3,810 feet and 8,880 feet, also features a scenic waterfall trail framed by ancient ferns and wild orchids, and is a birder’s paradise, with 350 species of forest birds.
Uganda has the richest and most diverse range of natural and cultural heritage, complemented by a warm tropical climate, warm people, great accommodations and great food. Uganda is a host to over 50% of the world’s remaining population of Mountain gorillas, 11% of the world’s recorded species of birds (which is 50% of Africa’s bird species richness), 8% of the global mammal diversity (which is 39% of Africa’s mammal richness), 19% of Africa’s Amphibian species richness, 14% of Africa’s reptile species richness and 1,249 recorded species of butterflies.
