Uganda Tourism Board considering appointment of local representative in India

While commenting about this, the UTB CEO Lilly Ajarova said that after North America, India was the number two source market for Uganda and the profile of visitors is largely businessmen.

“Since we are a relatively new entrant in the tourism space, the plan is to appoint a local representative in India to expand the reach in the market,” she added while addressing the press in India through video conferencing.

In the video, the CEO attended to an online audience in a Q&A organised by Koncept Africa. Koncept Africa is a newly launched vertical of Pearl Tourism & Leisure Group and is aimed at connecting African tourism vendors to the players in the Indian outbound market. As part of the launch process, Jayesh Ashar, MD, Pearl Tourism & Leisure Group, interviewed Ajarova as regards Uganda tourism and her prospects.

In the interview, Ashar asked Ajarova about the investment opportunities in Uganda, recovery process and measures being put in place to ensure the resumption of tourism is seamless once restrictions are called off.

Answering a question from TravelBiz Monitor on partnering with its established African neighbours for joint marketing promotions, Ajarova said, “We are considering such an agreement with Kenya since they have positioned themselves well in the market.”
