Ugandan representative finishes 4th Runner-up in the Miss Tourism World competition

Of late, Uganda ifs flying high whenever it comes to its beauty queens. The latest on the list is former miss tourism Ankole, Anita Ayebare, whose overwhelming performance put Uganda among the top participants at the Miss Tourism World 2019 that just concluded in Porec, Croatia.

Anita, 24, was earlier flagged off by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) boss, Lily Ajarova to represent Ugandan in the 74th annual beauty pageant.

Over the weekend, she finished fifth in a competition which saw a number of beauty queens representing various countries around the world. The competition’s grand finale took place on Saturday evening in the presence of a host of tourism ambassadors, business and enthusiasts from world over.

The grand crown for this years’s peageant was won by Julijana Nikolis, 20, representing Australia.

The official Miss World website profiles Ayebare as a “Tourism Ambassador who enjoys singing, traveling and gymnastics.”

The website further quotes the beauty queen saying, “I am proud to be a Tourism Ambassador for Uganda as with the experience I have had as a tourism ambassador in my country, I have been able to fight against climate change through tree planting in various regions. I believe if this was carried on by the rest of the world, we can change the world for the future generations to come.”

This accomplishment comes less than a year after Miss Uganda 2017, Quinn Abenakyo stunned Ugandans with an impressive performance at the popular and prestigious Miss World pageant. She further went ahead to be Miss Tourism Africa.

This can directly be contributed to the continued intensive efforts by different stakeholders to promote Uganda as a top tourism destination. Kudos to them.
