Saudi Arabia yesterday matched out of the field with heads high after a win of 2-1 against Egypt, preventing the African nation from winning its first ever match at the tournament. Salem Al-Dawsari led Saudi Arabia to victory with a late goal in the 95th minute. Egypt returns home having lost all their games,

however it’s a fairly high note for Mohamed Salah who netted his second World Cup goal in the 22th minute.

Russia’s impressive start to the World Cup comes to un expected end.

Russia had scored eight goals in sweeping victories over Saudi Arabia and Egypt and were already guaranteed to progress, but they went behind in their final group match after only 10 minutes when Luis Suarez drilled in a clever low free-kick. The game ended 3-O in favour of Uruguay.

Uruguay will now advance to face Portugal in the last 16, while hosts Russia play Spain.

Portugal Fights Off Iran to Advance in World Cup

After controlling most of the game, Portugal sweated out some late nervous moments before advancing to the second round of the World Cup with a 1-1 draw against Iran in Saransk on Monday. The best of the best time came when Ronaldo was awarded a penalty by the video assistant but unfortunately it wasn’t a success as Iran’s goal keeper Alizera Beiranvand saved Ronaldo’s ground level shot

Next to end time, Iran got a surprise equalizer, again on a video-reviewed penalty. Sardar Azmoun knocked a ball down with his head, and it struck the arm of Cedric Soares. This kind of incident is almost never called a penalty, but this time round Karim Ansarifard put the penalty in the top of the net, and the score was tied at 1-1
