As always, we will be giving you highlights that have made News rounds all through from start of the week till the End. Below is our Weekly Newsletter for your readership.
01. Inaugural Africa Kwetu Motor Fuel Economy tour animates participants
Over the weekend, the inaugural fun filled Africa Kwetu Motor Fuel Economy tour that took place in Hoima, western Uganda came to a grand finish after two days of competitive track racing between motor circuit drivers.
The motor tour that left revelers and participants exhilarated saw then call upon the organizers to have the event.
The rally participants were treated to a tour at Kabwoya Wildlife Reserve where they interacted with different animals and birds besides visiting the oil well in the park.
02. Minister Kiwanda calls upon Ugandans to partake on domestic tourism
With the advance after effects of Covid-19 on Uganda’s tourism industry, the bruised industry is slowly getting back to its feet.
As one of the strategies to fully revamp the tourism industry, Minister of Tourism Geoffrey Kiwanda has come on board and requested Ugandans to take on domestic due to available and convenient market forces in the before foreign tourists come on to compete for the same services.
03. Uganda a hot seat for leisure tourists – Report
The global tourism sector has lost up to 80 percent of the revenue following the effects of Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr Barirega Akankwasa, the Director Tourism Ministry and Trade revealed this during the launch of statistical and Economic analysis of Uganda’s Tourism expenditure and motivation survey 2019 in Kampala on Friday (November 20, 2020).
The Uganda Wood assets and Forest resources account report was launched to crown the African Statistics week.
04. Qatar Airways announces new flights to Africa
World airline giants Qatar Airways will start on a tri-weekly flight schedule to the Nigerian city of Abujain via Lagos starting 27 November 2020.
Abuja becomes the sixth new destination announced by the national carrier of the State of Qatar since the start of the pandemic. The service will use a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with 22 seats in business class and 232 seats in economy class.
With flights to more than 85 destinations in Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and North America, passengers wanting to travel to or from Nigeria can now enjoy improved connectivity via Hamad International Airport.
05. Igad legal and policy experts now authorize visa-free travel
The Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (Igad) has authorised a 10 year detailed plan to contrivance the protocol on visa-free movement of people in member states.
The decision was recently reached at a high-level legal and policy expert meeting of the regional body held in Entebbe, Kampala and was endorsed by the Igad committee of ambassadors and ministers in charge of migration and labour.
The Uganda Ministry of Health through the Office of the Director General under the Public Relations Office has requested all Ugandans intending to travel outside the Country to bear Covid-19 negative certificates labelled ‘’Travel’’
According to a press statement released by Dr. Henry G. Mwebesa, the Director General Health Services on Monday 23rd November 2020 from the Office of the Director General, all Covid-19 certificates for travelers must indicate ‘’TRAVEL’’ as the sole purpose.

08. New Digital Travel Pass hailed as the best hope yet for Aviation Boot up
IATA’s new digital health pass set for Q1 2021 is designed to pull airlines out of their stalls
The aviation industry’s leading trade group has said it is in the final stages of developing a new digital health pass which it claims will help to reopen borders and allow airlines to kick-start trading.
The International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Travel Pass, slated to launch in Q1 of 2021, will manage and verify the secure flow of necessary testing or vaccine information among governments, airlines, laboratories and travellers, the group said.
After being around for nearly eight months, the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre (UWEC) Entebbe has revealed a pair of grown up Tigers.
The pair of tigers, a male and female tiger, were earlier on imported from South Africa and were exchanged for 25 monkeys from Uganda.
10. Uganda partners with MTV Base Africa to hype her Tourism to the World through Music
Uganda’s Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities has taken an extra milestone to market destination Uganda both on the Continent and at Global level through the biggest Music Awards on motherland Africa this time held in the only Pearl Of Africa – Uganda, as labeled by Winston Churchill centuries ago.
The announcement was made during a virtual press conference held at Mestil Hotel and Residences in Nsambya on Wednesday November 25th through a panel of discussion hosted by TV Host Douglas Lwanga as the panel comprised; The State Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi, Uganda Tourism Board CEO – Ms Lilly Ajarova, Uganda’s music icons Bebe Cool and Sheebah Karungi.
The iconic awards will showcase African Talent and Creativity come February 20th 2021 as they will host a variety of musicians from across the African Continent and also attract global attention as all International and local Media will focus particularly on destination Uganda hence a great platform to market Uganda’s Tourism to the World.
