The Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has suspended all RwandAir flights with in its boarders in a move to regulate Rwanda’s affiliation after suspecting its involvement in the country’s insecurity.
This comes after the Kinshasha based Government accused Rwanda of supporting M23 rebels, a notorious rebel group that has continuously ravaged the DRC, with logistics and manpower. With this, the DRC took it on and banned Rwandair from all its airports including Kinshasa, Goma & Lubumbashi.
With this at hand, RwandAir has decided to cancel all flights to Kinshasha, Lubumbashi and Goma with immediate effect.
This was revealed through a social media post shared on the Airline’s official twitter handle. The airline showed concern about the inconveniences and disruptions caused to their customers and promised to waive change of reservation fees and offer re-issues or refunds for those affected.
The move to ground operations by the airline is a down side especially in such a period where most of the world’s airlines are striving to bounce back after the un favoring Covid-19 Pandemic.
