The 7th iteration of the Africa SME Champions Forum will take place in Uganda at the Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala. 300 of Africa’s best SMEs, institutional financing organizations, venture capitalists, angel investors, and ecosystem builders will be present at the event, which is co-hosted by the Arab Bank for Development in Africa (BADEA) and supported by AfricSearch.

The Forum will bring together African SMEs for improved cooperation, alliance building, and partnerships for rapid growth as Africa works to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Participating SMEs will also explore chances for regional expansion, access to operating capital, and capacity building. Delegates will gain skills through masterclasses on investment preparedness, business management, E-commerce, financing, growth and gender inclusion in the main program.

“SMEs play an important role in Africa’s economic development. They provide 70% of jobs created, over 60% of the continent’s GDP and they are an engine for transformation and innovation. Therefore, investing in them means we are investing in Africa’s future. Our partnership with the Arab Bank for Development in Africa (BADEA) will be a catalyst in accelerating the development of the SMEs across Africa,” said Mr. Didier Acouetey, Chairman of the Forum and Group President of AfricSearch.

The Africa SME Growth Fund and the Africa SME Growth Initiative will also be unveiled during the event. The MSME Coalition Award, A Special Recognition Award, Financial Institution of the Year, Start-up of the Year, SME of the Year, and other prizes will also be given. The Financial Institution of the Yea will be recognized for supporting most SMEs.

The main event supporting the expansion of African SMEs is the Africa SME Champions Forum. Since 2014, it has been operating with the goal of enhancing the SME landscape and offering growth support to SMEs, the backbone of African economies,

The forum offers effective and operational answers to the funding and expansion issues SMEs face.
