With over 500 eager attendees, both local and international, the event signals the commencement of a series spanning four Kenyan coastal counties, promising a vibrant celebration of Ugandan heritage and cuisine across East Africa.

This groundbreaking festival not only seeks to dazzle audiences with the rich tapestry of Ugandan culture but also serves as a strategic move, beckoning Kenyan tourists to explore the exhilarating experiences of Uganda’s tourism.

During the festival’s grand inauguration, Uganda’s Consul General in Mombasa, Ambassador Paul Mukumbya, delivered a stirring address, illuminating the thriving tourist exchange between Kenya and Uganda. Mukumbya highlighted the staggering influx of Ugandan visitors to Kenya in 2023, coupled with a substantial number of Kenyan travelers venturing into Uganda’s embrace for leisure and business pursuits.

The festival’s paramount objective, as emphasized by Mukumbya, lies in enticing more Kenyan adventurers to experience the allure of Uganda’s tourist treasures. Simplified travel protocols, requiring only a national identity card for Kenyan citizens to traverse the border, promise to facilitate seamless cross-border journeys, fostering a spirit of spontaneity and exploration.

This collaborative endeavor between Uganda and Kenya transcends mere cultural exhibitionism; it signifies a powerful testament to regional cooperation in bolstering East Africa’s tourism sector. The festival also serves as a pivotal conduit for both nations to tap into each other’s markets, fostering mutual growth and prosperity.
