Named after a popular Christmas song that breaks down a series of grand gifts given on each of the twelve days of Christmas, the 12 Days of Christmas initiative aims at reaching out to less fortunate members of society as well as to individuals and organizations that have made a remarkable difference in the lives of their community members. As part of this initiative, Airtel Uganda staff members nominate different individuals, organizations or causes and deliver to them different items to help them go through the festive season and the year to come.

ACCESS Uganda, a community-based organization in Nakaseke district dedicated to working with vulnerable groups in resource-limited settings was the first beneficiary of the initiative.

Other beneficiaries will include Raphael Children’s Charity in Migadde, Center For The Visually Impaired Children Of Uganda (CEVIC) in Kisasi, Noah’s Ark Home Of Kids With Disabilities in Kitubulu, Bless A Child Foundation Uganda in Makerere, Kapalaga Heart Foundation in Bunga, Tusome Africa – Game our Schools in Iganga and many others.

This year’s beneficiaries will also include a 7-year old girl named Emmanuella who needs financial assistance to go for a heart surgery in India.

Commenting about the initiative, Airtel Uganda Managing Director Mr. V.G. Somasekhar who led the team to ACCESS Uganda, applauded the staff members for their commitment to give back to society.

“Since we started this initiative, we have reached out to very many less fortunate communities across Uganda. As a people-oriented brand, it is important for us to give back to our host communities as a sign of our appreciation for their support throughout the year,” he noted.

“ACCESS Uganda is just the first day of our initiative and over the next 11 days, our teams shall reach even the most remote parts of this country. We wish you all a Merry Christmas,” Somasekhar concluded.
