Airtel Uganda Partners with KCCA for Charity Concert.

Uganda, Kampala. 19th July 2017 – Telecommunications solutions provider, Airtel Uganda has announced a partnership with Kampala Capital City Authority to sponsor the pre-festival charity concert.

The concert scheduled to take place on 6th October 2017 at the Kololo Independence grounds, proceeds from the pre festival party will all be geared towards improving the state of KCCA UPE schools currently providing free primary education for over 80,000 children from low income households.

Speaking at the press conference, Airtel Uganda Managing Director Mr. Anwar Soussa applauded KCCA for the work that they do to ensure that the city remains clean, beautiful and organized.

“Partnering with KCCA is not a new venture for us at Airtel Uganda. Over the years, we have partnered on many different projects such as the beautification project at the Wampewo road roundabout and the KCCA fees payment project using our Airtel Money platform,” he said, adding that Airtel Uganda has also been a KCCA festival partner for the past few years.

Soussa further clarified that Airtel Uganda is very passionate about this partnership because of its impact on education in Uganda.

“Education is one of our key Corporate Social Responsibility pillars. Through our Adopt-A-School program, we have managed to refurbish over 5 schools in Uganda – one of them being St. Ponsiano Primary School located in Makindye, here in Kampala district,” he added.

Mrs. Jennifer Musisi, the KCCA Executive Director praised the telecommunications company for always sponsoring and participating in different projects that benefit the city.

“Allow me to appreciate Airtel Uganda for being approachable and always willing to participate in our different projects. We have done a lot of work together and I encourage you to maintain this relationship as we build our city,” she said.

As a silver sponsor, Airtel Uganda handed over a 50 million shillings cheque to the KCCA Executive Director, Mrs. Jennifer Musisi. Airtel will also offer locations for the concert tickets to be sold as well as branded merchandise to boost up the event.
