Bwindi Impenetrable National Park listed among CNN’s best five National Parks in Africa

Located in South Western Uganda and being home to a number of species including; birds, butterflies and endangered species such as the mountain gorilla that amount close to 300 that stay within the park accounting for nearly half of the world’s population, Bwindi Impenetrable national park is ranked to have above 160 tree species.

Recently, CNN Travel listed the park among Africa’s best five National Parks followed by Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Kruger National Park in South Africa.




Bwindi is Uganda’s most sought after tourist destination for gorilla tracking and counts a big revenue generation stream for Uganda Wildlife Authority with a total direct income of USD 15 Million dollars annually yielded from Gorilla visits in the park.

The park is situated in Kanungu district covering an area of approximately 331 km². Bwindi Impenetrable National park is a bio-diverse, mountainous area and home to many of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, who feed on roots, leaves and fruits from the park’s many tree and fern species.

Restricted numbers of viewing permits help protect the endangered gorilla families. In the park, rough paths weave amid dense forests, which are home to many butterflies and birds
