During our Tulambule Northern Uganda trip after spending an awesome night camping in the wild at Murchison Falls National Park, Pakuba Safari Lodge and touring Paraa safari lodge, we traveled to Gulu later in the evening only to arrive by 10pm. Bomah hotel limited, one of Gulu’s fabulous hotels was our final stop for accommodation during our second day on the trip, by 10:40pm we had checked into our beautiful rooms well equipped with amenities such as a landline for room service on toll free, well equipped shower rooms, flat screen  with DStv where I had to watch the last bit of ‘’Agataliiko Nfuufu’’ on Bukedde Tv 1, and a well-dressed bed for ultimate comfort together with full air conditioning plus a bottle of mineral water to quench me off the long thirst acquired off the journey.

After taking a quick refresher, I stepped down to the Restaurant section where traditionally well prepared local dish menu comprising; Kalo, Malakwang, Posho, boiled chicken, boiled meat, matooke and vegetables had been aligned in dinner setting for enjoyment at our own comfort together with a bottle of ice cold soda or mineral water as their residence live band played Lingala music to take us down memory lane when Congolese music dominated the ‘’Pearl Of Africa’’.

Later on after having supper, together with team, we embarked on night photography at around 11:30pm and by 12:30pm, our next stop was to mix and mingle with Gulu’s party animals (Nightlife lovers). BJz bar, was our stop point, seemingly one of the busiest night clubs in Gulu, one would think people that party there have no beds to rest, but for the love of nightlife, sleep would see them at dawn.

Entrance to BJz was as low as UGX8, 000 literally small units of charge and comes with complimentary two bottles of beer or any drink of your own selection unlike Kampala where entrance to most nightspots is UGX50, 000 or below depending on the venue and strategic location and no drink complimentary.

While at BJz, one would notice securing a drink is ‘’survival for the fittest’’, with approximately only three waiters on the counter surrounded by multitudes of bar hoppers, I had to wait a little longer for upto 20 minutes as all the counters were busy and crowded by  patrons throwing money at waiters so as to seek their attention. On top of the two free drinks complimentary, one had to top up UGX2, 000 as security incase the bottles would be damaged.

After securing my two bottles, a colleague passed me another two drinks complimentary and made my total of four as we danced all night long though local revelers noticed we were new faces in the area but that didn’t stop them from creating friendship with us as we danced to every music their resident Deejay spinned on the discs.

By 3am, I and two more colleagues had to leave BJz and went back to the hotel after traveling a long journey and partying hard so as to catch some sleep although by 6am, we were supposed to be awake for breakfast before embarking on another adventure in Pader district’s Aruu Water falls on our last day (Sunday).

However, some of our crew members went on and toured Michelles and Smiling Panda as well as tell more interesting stories about nightlife in Gulu.
