The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has placed a whooping Shs10 million for whoever knows people that killed the six lions at Queen Elizabeth National Park during the weekend.
The ongoing hunt for the six lion killers will help bring justice to the deceased endangered wildlife species that were mercilessly slaughtered and found dead on Friday by unknown people with suspected poisoning and after body parts removed as they went missing together with eight vultures also found dead at the same scene at the Ishasha sector inside Queen Elizabeth National Park situated in Kanungu District.
The hunt for the lion killers is accompanied by a Uganda Wildlife Authority telephone number to help facilitate communication for whoever gets in the know about where the culprits could be hiding. Information can be reached on +256 776 800 152 as the reward awaits for anyone with true information on where the killers are.
According to the Uganda Wildlife Authority Communications Manager, Mr Bashir Hangi, ‘’Conserving our Wildlife resources is a duty for all Ugandans and we should work closely in the fight against the ill practice of destroying them so as to put an end on wildlife crime’’.
He adds, ‘’We therefore call on the general public to present all information with utmost confidence about where the killers could be hiding so that our lions receive maximum justice’’.
Mr Hangi on the same note pledged to keep anonymous sources confidential about the killers of the lions as UWA together wth other Government Agencies have merged efforts to bring to book the murderers.
Currently, the Authority has collected all samples for the carcasses and taken them for a laboratory test so as to establish the cause of their death.
Previously, the Uganda Wildlife Authority has on a maximum tone increased campaigns cautioning the Public about poaching as the practice costs both communities neighboring the National Parks, Government interms of revenue and Nation at large.
