This was the first Busoga’s royal wedding since 1956. As the clock approached 1:40 pm, vows resonated through the air, witnessed by a jubilant crowd whose exuberant cheers echoed the joyous commitment.

The grandeur of the royal wedding day began with Gabula’s departure from the Budhumbula Royal Palace in Kamuli at 10:15 am, accompanied by the fervent cheers of loyal subjects. Simultaneously, Jovia Mutesi, escorted by her father Stanley Bayole, set forth from her parental abode in Mayuge District at 10:45 am. The Jinja-Kamuli and Jinja-Iganga highways bore witness to the procession of these two parallel journeys, marked by exuberant support from devoted royalists at every trading center along the way.

Under the expansive embrace of majestic tents, a congregation of approximately 2500 esteemed guests awaited the ceremonial spectacle. Gabula graced Christ’s Cathedral at 12:15 pm, with Mutesi’s arrival following suit at 1:10 pm. The matrimonial rites were conducted by the venerable Archbishop Kazimba Mugalu of the Church of Uganda, whose words resonated with divine wisdom as he led the couple to the sacred altar.

In his impassioned address, Archbishop Kazimba implored the public to honor the sacred covenant of marriage, emphasizing the divine intention for individuals to unite in lifelong partnership. Drawing inspiration from the biblical creation narrative, he highlighted the symbolism of Eve’s creation from Adam’s rib, a testament to the profound significance of this celestial plan.

The archbishop bestowed upon Gabula and Mutesi words of guidance, urging them to navigate the seas of matrimony with unwavering faith, ensuring a harmonious union untainted by adversity. As the vows echoed through the hallowed halls, Kazimba called upon the assembled multitude to refrain from actions that might cast shadows upon the blissful journey that lay ahead for Gabula and Mutesi in their sacred marital odyssey.
