01. UGANDA CULTURES; Why the Itesots are a popular tribe in the Eastern region – The Iteso (or people of Teso) are a Nilo-Hamites ethnic group in eastern Uganda and western Kenya. Teso refers to the traditional homeland of the Iteso, and Ateso is their language. Iteso is plural (two or more people from Teso), Etesot and Atesot are singular. Etesot is for male person from Teso and Atesot is feminine. Iteso are believed to have migrated from Abyssinia (Ethiopia). Read more https://bit.ly/33voIAM
02. Ethiopian Airlines still contemplating flying to the Oceania – Ethiopian Airlines, the flag carrier of Ethiopia, is well known around the world for its global presence. Since its founding in 1945, the airline has expanded its operations and fleet. Today, Ethiopian is Africa’s largest airline in terms of passengers carried, destinations served, fleet size, and revenue. It is also the world’s 4th largest airline by the number of countries served. Currently, it provides regular services to all continents except Oceania. 03. Etihad’s First and Business Class Passengers receive Premium Covid protection – Etihad Airways is giving out new protective wear for its First and Business Class passengers to reduce the likelihood of infections while on-board aircraft. 04. Should Nuts remain outside the Cabin Post-Covid? – If you have a severe allergy to a food substance, one of the scariest places you can be is 45,000ft in the air in a pressurized metal tube surrounded by that food. Over 3 million Americans suffer from nut allergies, and yet many airlines still offer nuts as a complimentary snack. For some passengers, a free snack could be deadly. 05. Middle East Airlines ‘Recovering Slower Than Global Average’ – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) estimates that air passenger traffic in the Middle East region will drop by 56% this year and will not return to pre-pandemic levels until 2024.
The region is recovering slower than the global average, according to IATA, which expects 113 million fewer passengers to travel by plane in the Middle East in 2020. Airlines in the region are forecast to lose $4.8 billion over the year. Read more https://bit.ly/33BWBQn
06. Airlines’ Passenger Pre-Covid traffic levels not to return until 2024 – Airlines around the world are in the coronavirus crisis for the long-haul with global passenger traffic not expected return to pre-Covid-19 levels until 2024, a year later than previously projected. That is according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which has forecast that while short-haul travel is still expected to recover faster than long-haul travel, global passenger numbers for 2020 will decline by 55% compared to 2019, worsened from the April forecast of 46%. 07. Brussels Airlines optimizes its short-haul product, aligning it with other Lufthansa hub airlines – Brussels Airlines optimizes its short-haul product and herewith closer aligns with the Lufthansa Group Network Airlines to offer its customers even smoother travel experience. This way, the Belgian hub airline can participate in future Group-wide innovations. At the same time, the Belgian company chooses to continue to highlight its Belgian identity and promote Belgian partners. 08. Fort Lauderdale scrapped by Emirates after 4 years – Emirates Airline is dropping its first US route this week, with Fort Lauderdale leaving the schedule permanently. The news comes as Emirates airline starts trimming its extensive route map, even as it looks to resume more routes in the coming months. As it becomes clear that air travel will take at least a few years to bounce back, airlines are making new long-term plans. The decision to axe Fort Lauderdale marks Emirates’ first US route cancellation. Emirates airline previously served 12 major US airports all over the country but is now looking to scale back its presence in the country slightly. 09. Emirates Airline to restart Flights to Iraq and Kenya this August – Emirates airline will fly to nearly 70 destinations in August, including seven cities in Africa and five in the Middle East. The Airline will resume flights to Nairobi in Kenya and Baghdad and Basra in Iraq next month as it gradually expands its network. Read more https://bit.ly/33KIhW3
10. Uganda’s Tourism fraternity welcomes two new gorilla babies in Bwindi National Park – While the Tourism sector still celebrates Justice received by the fallen ‘’Rafiki’ gorilla killed by a poacher Felix Byamukama and sentenced to jail to serve an 11 year sentence for the ridiculous act he committed, two new baby gorillas were on Tuesday this week witnessed at Bwindi National Park as revealed by Bashir Hangi, the Uganda Wildlife Public Relations Officer.
