01. Alex Cruz quits as British Airways CEO in major IAG management reshuffle – Alex Cruz will step down as British Airways’ CEO with immediate effect to be replaced by Aer Lingus CEO Sean Doyle, parent group IAG announced this Monday. IAG Chief Executive Luis Gallego, who recently took over from Willie Walsh, made the reshuffle and appointed Aer Lingus’ chief corporate affairs officer, Donal Moriarty, as BA’s interim CEO. Uganda among top six tourist destinations to travel to this October – Forbes – Shortly after celebrating her 58th Independence Day anniversary, Uganda yet again boosts of being ranked among the top six tourist travel destination this month of October. This comes on because of Uganda’s success in taming COVID-19 which has stabilized infections, making the country an ideal place for tourism to resume safely according to the Forbes magazine, one of the most-read business magazines in the world. 03. Risk of catching Covid-19 on-board aircraft ‘is same as being struck by lightning’ – Since the start of 2020 there have been 44 cases of Covid-19 reported in which transmission is thought to have been associated with a flight journey. That is according to a study by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which has for a long time be lobbying governments to ease travel restrictions it says is damaging demand for travel and airline businesses. 04. Travelers who extended their stay in Uganda before lockdown to first get gov’t clearance before travelAccording to Uganda’s Internal Affairs Minister Gen. Jeje Odongo, all people that continued staying in Uganda as per the time of lockdown and closure of both borders and airports will have to seek government clearance before any form of travel outside the country. Latest Survey indicates huge effect of COVID-19 on Africa’s Safari Industry – This month’s SafariBookings.com survey, an online marketplace for African safari tours,  indicates a wider effect of Corona pandemic on the safari industry in Africa though there are indications of improvement from previous surveys with some industry operators reporting a rise in enquiries and bookings. This month’s survey was the eighth of monthly surveys operated by SafariBookings.com and was conducted among 294 safari tour operators in Africa. Mount Kilimanjaro goes on Inferno, Tanzania National Parks Communications Manager Confirms – Tanzania National Parks Communications manager Patrick Shelutete recently reported of an inferno that broke out at Mt. Kilimanjaro towards the end of last weekend. According to the Kilimanjaro National Park (Kinapa) official, it’s alleged the fire broke out late in the afternoon on Sunday, October 11 2020. 09. Qatar Airways network to fly to 100 destinations offering weekly flights – Qatar Airways has revealed the resumptions of services to Sofia via Bucharest, marking the 100th destination to be added back to its global network. 10. Ethiopian Airlines unveils COVID-19 Global Insurance Cover – Ethiopian Airlines Group has revealed that it will cover the medical insurance for its commercial flights passengers including repatriation, evacuation and quarantine costs related to COVID-19 from start of October 2020 until 31st of March 2021.
