In a bid to cub down and prevent spread of the deadly Corona virus that is making rounds worldwide, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has handed out travel guidelines to tour operators and those travelling to Uganda as a precaution measure against the deadly and fast spreading virus.
The guidelines come at a time when most of the countries worldwide are on an outlook to avoid any further spread and limit transmission rate to newly uninfected grounds. These new set strategies largely pin point at the six countries most affected by the virus majorly China, South Korea, Japan, Italy, and Iran.
In the new set guidelines, Uganda Tourism Board Chief Executive Office Lilly Ajarova stresses out that travel from the Coronavirus hit countries should be reassessed at this time due to Uganda’s volunalability.
She further comments that travelers from the affected countries will be required to undergo a 14-day isolation process for daily monitoring by the Health Ministry. This however is a preventive directive set by the government.
“All tour operators and travel agencies should inform their clients who intend to come to visit Uganda to carry own recommended masks (N95: recommended). Operators should also educate their staff and visitors on preventive measures for the extenuation of contracting coronavirus,” Ajarova further stated.
More so, all tour operators, tour agencies and accommodation facilities have been directed to provide hand washing facilities with soap and warm water at their premises and on-board travel vehicles and vessels as one of the ways to disinfect contacted persons.
The UTB is one of the bodies that have come aboard to tackle the Corona virus pre-prevalence in Uganda. The government of Uganda, ministry of health together with sister support have been working all efforts to make sure no advance case of the lethal Corona virus could emerge in Uganda.
