A trip to the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola district.

Uganda, Saturday 30thth Jan, 2017 – Last Friday, we were overwhelmed by the joy to attend a FAM trip being one of the tour operators in the land (Uganda) and guess what, destination was the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary located approximately 180 Kilometres (110 mi) by road, north of Kampala Uganda’s capital. This location is near Nakitoma Village, Nakasongola district in the Kafu River basin, off the Kampala-Gulu Highway.

The Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only home of the Rhinos (One of the big five) in the whole of Uganda, the second largest of the land animals, the southern white rhino. This is also home to over 40 Mammal and Reptilian species which includes; Monkeys, Antelope, Hippopotamus and Crocodile.

While at the Sanctuary we enjoyed a nature walk as we took a track of the most and beautiful  and peaceful Rhinos harboured in the place, thereafter we  also visited the Amuka Restaurant that has the best continental cuisines , actually the most delicious ones and Amuka lodges that has the best Accommodation wings that cater for the guests.

The natural environment at the Zziwa Sanctuary describes the best tourist site that Uganda has to offer in the 21st Century.

While here; you will enjoy all sorts of activities from ranging from canoeing, bird watching (with the beautiful acharic looking shoebill stork also known as the whale head among other recored 326 bird species at the sanctuary , Rhino tracks among many more not forgetting the kids play area and swimming pool that caters for both adults and children.

About the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary

The Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a collaborative effort between the Rhino Fund, a Ugandan NGO committed to the restoration and conservation of the Uganda’s Rhinoceros population and the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). The Sanctuary offers a secure place where Rhino populations can be expanded by breeding and protected from human and non-human predators.
