Batwa community astonished by UWA land to carry out Developmental activities

Batwa community cheerfully welcome Shs180 million land bought by Uganda Wildlife Authority. Thank Government for giving them home since eviction from previous homes in nearby forests.

After,  great contribution made by the  Batwa community neighboring Mgahinga Gorilla National Park under the Batwa Trail tourism product towards the conservation and development of Uganda’s endangered wildlife species.




The Minister of Tourism Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu on Friday April 26th handed over 2 pieces of land measuring 3.5 and 4 acres respectively to the Batwa community purchased by Uganda Wildlife Authority with proceeds from Batwa Trail tourism product.

These pieces of land are strategically located in the villages of Nyagacence and Musana which cost the Authority Shs180 million.

The Batwa community was severely affected since eviction from their homes in nearby forests, which the authority had gazetted as conservation areas.
