Brussels Airlines flight SN455 from Bujumbura and Entebbe delayed after making double stopovers

Last night, Brusssels Airlines’ Flight SN455 from Bujumbura and Entebbe to Brussels had to make two unscheduled stopovers due to double uncertainties. The first landing took place in Cairo for medical reasons and the second one in Geneva was due to crew limitations.

Flight SN455 destined to Brussels operated by Airbus A330-300 and registered OO-SFC stopped over twice last night and this morning.

Shortly after taking off from Entebbe at around 01:10 UTC, the aircraft had to land at Cairo airport at 04:34 UTC, where one of the flight’s passengers was disembarked on medical accounts. The aircraft remained grounded for about 3 hours before taking off again at 07:40 UTC.

A second stopover was later made due to crew duty limitations. Because of the extra stopover, the crew were no longer allowed to fly to Brussels. The plane thus landed at Geneva airport at 09:20 UTC (11:20 local time).

The crew was replaced by a fresh team from Brussels to Geneva to pick up the passengers and later took off at around 12:50 to eventually land at Brussels Airport at 13:40 local time (UTC+2) instead of the scheduled arrival time of 06:35.

The total delay due to extra stopovers was more than seven hours.
