Ekyooto Ha Mpango Cultural Tourism festival set to boost local music stars

Fort Portal Tourism City will next month the 11th and 14th of November host the first ever annual cultural and tourism fete as launched by His Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru IV on the eve of this year’s Coronation Anniversary last month.

This cultural and tourism festival that celebrates the diversity of Ugandan cultures and heritage,  with a focus on the uniqueness of the beautiful Tooro culture with its primary goal kick starting domestic tourism in the Tooro region after the covid-19 pandemic will witness an array of events running concurrently during the four days.

Tooro Kingdom will host the  first edition of what is to become an annual event with a vision to elevate the profile of the Kingdom of Tooro into an international cultural tourism destination and diversify the product offer of Fort Portal Tourism City. Together with Kingdom friends and partners, the Ekyooto Ha Mpango festival is designed to create opportunities for youth in the region in the areas of Tourism, Agro business, finance and investment and art.

Although, at the start of this week, an unofficial poster leaked for the Ekyooto Ha Mpango festival as it was an incomplete draft copy which was not neither approved by the organisers nor posted on any of the official festival, Tooro Kingdom or partner pages. The un-finished poster which spread on social media mainly featured visiting celebrity guests who will be travelling to the Fort Portal Tourism City between 25th to the 28th November, 2021.

However, the Ekyooto Ha Mpango festival has already booked several artists from the Tooro region including Ayesiga Muzamil, Kigambo Araali, Tony Blackman, Carol Kay, Draei , Home of Talent, Tai Tan, Sagio Muhza, Harubengo School of Culture and many more. The festival also includes some of Tooro regions musical exports such as Aziz Azion, Beenie Gunter, DJ Kas Baby, Miss Elite Africa- Judith Heard and event host Cynthia Tumwine Kawamara.

Additionally for the artists in the land, the festival will have a mobile studio running for 3 days, giving fresh talent an opportunity to record and have their music produced by industry experts. Young producers will also have a chance to learn and work with professionals to develop their skills.

Organisers invite the people of Tooro to warmly embrace these opportunities that align with Vision 2045 whose theme is “A better life and prosperity for the people and kingdom of Tooro.”
