Emirates ramps up Kids inflight experiences

Being a family-friendly airline, Emirates sees its young passengers as the travellers of the future and consistently makes improvements to their onboard and offboard experiences. The Airline is introducing a new phase of children’s amenities that take into account the various needs and preferences of babies and infants, younger children, and older children up to the age of 12 in addition to a wide range of items and services especially created for children’s comfort.

The new amenity kits, which are available as individual kits for 0-2 years, 3-6 years, and 7-12 years, contain themes of global exploration and variety and were created by a creative team of in-house designers, marketers, and product specialists using sustainable materials. Every year, new designs are introduced for the benefit of frequent travellers and Emirates collectors. Every kit is safety verified by Intertek in compliance with EN71 and Gulf toy safety regulations.

A reusable changing mat, nappy cream, and cleaning wipes are all included in Emirates baby and infant kits, along with a keepsake wipe-clean bib, a calming vibrating soft toy that can be attached to a seatback or a stroller, and collectible “blanket buddies,” which pair a soft blanket and an Emirates character soft toy that represents a pilot or cabin crew to ensure a restful night’s sleep.

The reusable, high-quality package includes hand-drawn artwork on the vibrant bags that represents the people, places, and cultures that Emirates serves through its 140-destination worldwide route network. The distinctive design of the flag Emirates A380 aircraft, daytime and night time scenes, friendly members of the Emirates cabin crew, and pilots holding hands with people from all cultures of the world, showcasing diversity through national dress and a range of ethnicities, are quickly becoming collector’s items among Emirates’ worldwide fan base.

Emirates’ amenity kits for kids ages 3-6 are made to foster excitement for travel and create lasting memories for the youngest passengers. This age group’s children are given a chic belt bag, a roomier backpack, or a roomy duffel bag that may be used for a variety of occasions, from travel to sports to simply carrying toys. Even specific headphones for children that are soft and comfortable on their little ears are provided for in-flight entertainment. The amenity kit also includes the ideal diversionary materials for a restless young child, such as a fun “Fly with Me” activity pack that comes with a set of non-toxic colouring pencils and includes kid-friendly world maps, puzzles, drawing instructions, colouring pages, and educational activities about Dubai and environmental protection.

The kits are manufactured from high quality responsibly sourced materials, including plastic bottles – up to 4 bottles per bag.

Children aged 7 to 12 are given sturdy, reusable belt bags, roomier backpacks, or roomy duffel bags, all of which feature age-appropriate, cool, and subdued patterns. The distinctive style encourages a love of travel and adventure with its use of logos for Dubai, Emirates, its pilots, cabin crew, and other personnel. Each bag can contain up to seven recycled plastic bottles because it is built entirely of sustainable materials. Also, children aged 7 to 12 receive special headphones for the superb inflight entertainment.

Emirates cabin staff members use an instant Polaroid camera to record memorable events while flying and then give the photos to kids as a gift in a limited-edition photo frame.

To allow babies to have their nap time in safety and comfort, there are bookable bassinets for infants under 2 years old onboard Emirates, as well as baby changing tables in all bathrooms. Organic baby food, milk formula and baby bottles are available onboard for infants if parents or guardians require them during the flight.

Apart for few short-haul flights in the GCC, practically all routes serve kid’s meals for children older than 2 years. The meals are served on a specially created, vibrant tray that features the well-known Emirates crew and pilot Little Travellers. The kids’ meals offer savoury and high-quality options that are well-liked by kids, including favourites like nuggets, pasta, mini burgers, and pizza, as well as healthy snacks and sweet treats, juice, and water.

Emirates offers a comprehensive selection of kids’ content on its award-winning aircraft, including the top films and TV shows from Cartoon Network, CBeebies, and Nickelodeon channels, for kids eager to watch movies and kids TV on their flight. There are more than 100 kids movies, including Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, The Tiger Rising, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, Tad the Lost Explorer, and The Emerald Tablet; a dedicated ‘Wizarding World’ folder that includes 16 Harry Potter titles for a Harry Potter movie marathon; and popular TV shows such as The Amazing World of Gumball, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Lego Jurassic World: Legends of Isla Nublar, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Star Trek: Prodigy.

For young music lovers, Emirates offers hundreds of music channels in addition to up to 100 video games, which, if they are multiplayer games, can be played by two players in separate seats.

Emirates provides preferential boarding for families at all international airports on the ground. In addition to a designated family check-in area during busiest travel times, Emirates offers free baby carriages for new borns and young children at Dubai International Airport. The children’s play areas in the First and Business Class Lounges at Dubai Airport (Concourse A and B) contain Sony PlayStation consoles and arcade-style games. Mother and baby care rooms with cosy feeding places and baby changing facilities are now available in the First and Business Class Lounges at Dubai Airport.

Children aged 5 to 11 who are flying alone or if their parents are in a different travel class can take advantage of Emirates’ special unaccompanied minors service. Children can enjoy drinks and snacks while waiting for their flight in the dedicated unaccompanied minors lounge, which has video games, free Wi-Fi, plush couches, and kid-friendly restrooms. The Unaccompanied Minors Service makes sure that kids are always accompanied and watched over by Emirates ground employees and cabin crew. The youngster is greeted by a specialist from the team at the unaccompanied children check-in desk, and they accompany them through the airport to assist them with immigration and security checks before they meet the cabin crew at the aircraft door. When the child arrives, a specialist member of the team will be at the aircraft door to welcome them to their destination, helping them through the airport before taking them to their parent or guardian.
