Excited Dominic thrilled by UTB inaugural ‘’Take on the Pearl of Africa’ ’Virtual led Tourism Campaign in Eastern Uganda

Dominic Tugume who was declared as the first standing winner by the board kept in high anticipation for the maiden trip to Eastern Uganda for Destination Sipi falls in Kapchorwa also touring surrounding areas like Mbale city among others, throughout last weekend starting Friday till Sunday.

Tugume was Flagged Off last Friday by Uganda Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer – Lilly Ajarova for a life thrilling adventure to the hills of Sipi falls plus also enjoy the magnificence of the waters given their scenic view.

Lilly congratulated Dominic upon the milestone emerging out as the first lucky winner for the domestic tourism digital led campaign which is quite competitive given that it’s a rolled out national campaign launched a week ago to give many an opportunity to enjoy what the Pearl Of Africa has in terms of prized Tourism sites and attractions.

Excited Tugume won his maiden trip after observing all protocol directed to be followed as a rare photo of Sipi Falls -the first tourist attraction was posted on Uganda Tourism Board Social Media handles, following the earlier stated terms and conditions participants were obliged to follow for a chance to win a trip to the Country’s prized tourism sites and attractions while they leverage on the opportunity presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dominic’s trip to Sipi falls was crowned with the company of Ugandan Celebrities including city Comedian Alex Muhangi of Comedy Store Uganda and Radio Personality and Actress Cleo Patra Koheirwe.

The already thrilled Dominic Tugume couldn’t take hold of his excitement to ’Take on the Pearl of Africa’’ during a zoom call last Tuesday as City comedian Alex Muhangi spoke to him, congratulating him upon the opportunity presented by the domestic tourism digital led challenge that saw him enjoy an exhilarating trip at no charge.

During the call, Dominic revealed of his excitement to take on the adventure as he said, ‘’ I am immensely dominated by excitement being the first winner for UTB’s Digital led domestic tourism campaign, I am really ready to take on the pearl and being a resident of Kampala who had no chance to travel for adventures given the costs and the Covid- 19 situation that sealed us off in Kampala alone, here comes the opportunity I have always wanted to travel upcountry for a memory lane excursion.

Dominic further revealed that upon receiving news from friends who saw him posted on the Visit Uganda social media platforms as they congratulated him before he even knew it, he was taken up by tears of joy and couldn’t really wait for Friday to drive through the weekend exploring Uganda’s natural endowers.

However, all participants opting to take part in the ’Take on the Pearl of Africa’’ Digital led domestic tourism campaign were previously urged follow keenly on the dynamics of the challenge for a chance to win part of the 8 trips across Uganda as 2 lucky winners will be selected every Tuesday of the week for travel between Friday to Sunday starting this September till Novemberas 16 lucky winners will stand opportunity.

Currently, 7 more trips await lucky winners to take part of the contests and stand a chance.

Mechanics under the Digital Activation

  1. Post the contest photo on Visit Uganda social media pages every Friday.
  2. Get people to respond with name of the place and the reasons why they want to go to that place, for a chance to win the trip.
  3. People get their friends and family to come and like their comments.
  4. Correct comment with highest likes by Tuesday of the following week is selected the week’s winner.

We will have 2 winners per week for 8 weeks. Winners will be announced at the beginning of the week and shall take their trip over the weekend; Friday to Sunday. What is more important to note as well is that UTB will not award the 2 winners but there will be a lot of giveaways, discounted accommodation and travel packages rates to enjoy in the course of the campaign.
