The 24 year old comes to Uganda on back of a recent success at the Windhoek Lager Africa Jacket golf tournament in Windhoek, Namibia, where he completed the 54-hole A division and carding an unmatched score of 217 after rounds of 71, 73 and 73.

Simfukwe is one of Zambia’s top young golfers and last year won the Roan Open for the third year in a row including the Mazabuka Open. He will be featuring at this year’s Sunshine Tour in South Africa as Zambia’s flag bearer for the amateurs.

Aaron Simfukwe Junior has been applauded as the rising star of Zambia’s sport of golf as he seeks to take in the footsteps of national hero Madalitso Muthiya, who will also be coming to Uganda to compete in the Pros tournament.

Zambia Golf Union President, Jason Kazilimani confirmed this to his Ugandan counterpart Mr. Johnson Omolo, the president of the Uganda Golf Union.

Omolo confirmed that there is a steady interest in the Uganda Open across the sub-Saharan Africa and the Open continues to get better and bigger as we approach the event.

“The entry of the talented youthful star will improve the quality of the event and offer local players a chance to prove themselves in this year’s open. Zambia remains a close ally of the Uganda Golf Union with Ambassador Joe Malanje being the President of Africa Golf Confederation, and the Vice President being Uganda’s president J.Omolo. As his Vice President, we have established a strong collaboration between the two countries and Africa in general.” Johnson said. We shall reciprocate this gesture from ZGU

Although Simfukwe is a star golfer with a vast experience from all the prized tournaments he has participated in, he will not be having an easy win as Uganda’s golfers have also studied and mastered his art of play. Adolf Muhumuza, the Uganda National golf captain has pointed out that despite Simfukwe being well experienced, he also has a poor start of his game and they will be looking to capitalize on this as they tee off on the 10th of August.

Title sponsors, Tusker Malt Lager injected into this year’s tournament, UGX 500 million shillings, whereby UGX 230 million shillings was in  cash  up from Ugx 200m in 2015.

Tusker Malt Lager embodies the spirit of the game of golf. Tusker Malt lager is slow brewed with an ingredient base of 100% malt giving it that unmistakably rich, smooth premium taste that is widely recognized and that consumers have grown to love.
