Madhvani Foundation awards 161 scholarships for the academic year 2017/2018.

Kampala, 15th Aug, 2017 – The Muljibhai Madhvani Foundation through its scholarships Sub-Committee has yet awarded a total number of 161 University scholarships worth 700,000,000 million UGX to exceptionally talented yet financially challenged students for the year 2017/2018. The foundation has supported over 2000 students since the reinstatement of the programme in 2003.

The Foundation received applications from all regions of the country. Hon. Gabriel Opio the Chairman of the Scholarship Sub – Committee expressed confidence in the scholarship scheme stating that, “We undoubtedly trust that the yearly intervention of the foundation through the scholarship fund has been and continues to be a strong brick to the development of this country”.

Mr. Opio revealed that equivalent to the previous academic year; the Eastern region dominated with 36% of those awarded while this particular year the Western region came second with 29 %. Of the professional courses, Engineering took the lion’s share with 40% followed by Medicine, 27% and Bioscience, 22% respectively.

“The scholarship continues to focus on science and technical disciplines in the various Ugandan universities including ; Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Actuarial Science, Architecture, Veterinary Medicine, Commerce, Hotel Management, Pharmacy, Nursing, Engineering, Food Science & Technology, Information Technology, Environmental Sciences and Medicine,  insight of the founder’s vision.” He stated.

While cheering the winning applicants, Beatrice Apoto,  the administrator of the foundation informed  successful candidates to pick up their letters of award with proper proof of identification at the Madhvani Foundation Offices, Plot N0.96 -98, Business Park, 5th street, Industrial Area from 21st.August.2017 at  9:00am -4:00pm.

Beatrice Apoto, further encouraged gifted but financially challenged students to apply for scholarships in the 2018-2019 academic years on the Foundation.
