Centenary bank customers to get free debit visa card

In a bid to redefine customer experience, Centenary bank has come up with a new CenteVisa debit Card. It has been noted that internet banking is a big step towards customer convenience when it comes to financial service access and therefore customers will be provided safety with the new technology that comes with the CenteVisa debit card as it operates internationally using pin technology and chip.

Clients will be able to access and transact wherever they are both local and international where visa is enabled.

Currently the bank serves 1.4 million customers almost a third of Uganda’s banking population. The Bank’s Diaspora clientele and product range is also increasing calling for more global service schemes.

The Bank started the electronic journey with one automated teller machine in the year 2003 and this has seen a rise for upto 176 ATM’s, 64 POS , phone banking through the CenteMobile service and internet banking.

CenteVisa cards are now available for at any of the 69 branches provided one has valid identification either a national ID, driving permit or a passport for free.

The Bank’s General Manager Operations, Mr. Joseph Kimbowa added that the exercise of getting new cards is to run for a particular period to enable completion of integration with Visa. He said, ‘customers have up to six months to get their new Visa cards, there after the old magnetic stripe card shall be disabled from the system. “He added that the process for getting new cards is seamless and customers need not postpone the exercise.

“We are therefore delighted to officially welcome the customers of Centenary Bank onto the Visa network where they can enjoy secure and convenient payment experiences.  This development is in line with our commitment to reduce cash usage and deepen financial inclusion across the region,” added Sunny Walia.
